“I’m Going to Run Away”

A friend at the French speaking church that we were attending in Quebec took me aside and whispered, “I thought you would want to know this…Jay told my son that if you persist in going to Africa, he is going to run away.”img600(2)

We were in the middle of language school. It was a major struggle just surviving in this foreign country…and now this.

My child’s heart was hurting, confused, angry.

My husband and I had to come to a firm conviction that God had called us and He would help us accomplish His will. God had also chosen this life for our children. It was His PERFECT choice for them.

This was an eye opener for me and began a long journey that is still going on…praying faithfully for my kids.

There would be no youth group, no youth pastor, no camp experiences, no Sunday School….all those guiding influences that help us parents. No, this was something God and prayer would have to work out.

And I have the joy of looking back and saying, “He answered my prayers. He heard my cries. When friends and family were far from me, He helped.”

Pray and pray some more.

Expect answers.

Expect changes.

Expect provision.

Expect God to do good.

Jeremiah 33:2-3 “Thus says the LORD who made the earth, the LORD who formed it to establish it, the LORD is His name, call to ME and I will answer you and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”

By the way…Jay did not run away. He ended up bonding with Africa and Africans whole heartedly!
