I am losing a friend at the end of this month. She is moving back to her home country along with her four wonderful TCKs that Lilly will miss. I know it is for their good, but it is a loss for us.
I met Candace (name changed) my first month in the country. She hugged me and was sure to memorize my name. As the months went by, my feelings of loneliness and lostness just increased.
But one day I was out in town, and I heard my name being called out quite loudly. (No one in this part of the world has a name like mine.)
I looked around and there was dear Candace coming toward me with a friendly greeting and hug. I felt so wanted, so included, so warm.
I will never forget Candace for her kindness to me when I first arrived. I have noticed that I am not the only one she has encouraged and loved.
It is all unconditional and generously bestowed. Every place in the world, every church, every organization should have a Candace.
