Only a few of us celebrate Easter in this country. A living Savior! THAT is something to celebrate.
For the first time, I prepared to go to church knowing that it could be dangerous.
Easter morning, we read warnings regarding threats to all church groups and Christians. For the first time, I prepared to go to church knowing that it could be dangerous.
But for many in the world, it is not something new. We have talked to many who have experienced more than just threats. I wondered what we would find at church that morning.
The meeting room was packed. I looked around. Dads, moms, and their children gathered to worship the One who has conquered death.
When the pastor asked for different nationalities to say, “He is risen,” there were almost ten language groups represented! There was no fear in the air, just praise for our living Savior.
I live in the country where the early church was alive and well. What it must have been like for those early believers to meet together, like us, with threats just outside the door.
Today, we are comforted by the very same words that our Lord’s disciples were comforted by: “Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore…” Revelation 1:17, 18
